Now, there are many problems such as global warming, financial crisis and tribal wars all over the world. And I think the most serious problem is war crisis. Atomic bombs still exist in a huge number to date. To reduce and abolish atomic bombs is the best way to lead the world to peace. And then, all of the countries should cooperate to solve the other problems. I hope the atomic bombs will be soon lost from the earth.

Now, there are many military bases in Okinawa. When I went to Okinawa, I went to a botanical garden near the military base. It was very noisy, so it was very difficult to speak with my friend and I had to talk in a loud voice. Then, I was thinking about the feelings of people who live in Okinawa. I feel it’s a little scary to live with American military because we don’t know when other countries’militaries would attack the bases in Okinawa. If President Obama can remove them from Okinawa, I want him to make an effort in order to do it as soon as possible for those who live in Okinawa.

Today, I got to learn about the relationship between the US and Japan. I didn’t know some of the things Mr. Stewart spoke about, such as "choco-diplomacy." So, I was happy to learn about that. I also got to know about President Obama. Mr. Stewart said he was the first Pacific President, so I had an affinity to him. I'd like to visit the Nagoya American Center's web site and learn more about President Obama and the US.

The diplomatic relationship with the US is very important for Japan. Mr.Hatoyama doesn't seem to be very good at diplomatic relations; but fortunately, Mr.Obama is amicable to Japan. Recently, Americans make a fuss about the bow of Mr. Obama to Japanese Emperor. I think the acceptance of such conduct will lead to mutual understanding.

[TITLE]My Thoughts From Mr. Stewart's Speech
I understood well about the relationships between the US and Japan (or Nagoya) from various aspects. In the past, I think Japan depended on the US, but now Japan has been establishing relationships to cooperate with the US. When I visited the museums of war in Nagasaki and Okinawa, I thought war was, and is, very terrible. So, I'd like President Obama, Mr. Hatoyama and other countrie's representatives to try hard to establish "International Peace." And I'll try to participate in some activities for peace.

Thank you for your speech today. It was a good time for me to know the relationship between the U.S. and Japan again. Lately, a lot of people in Japan are interested in the policy of President Obama. I'm also interested in his policy, especially about nuclear weapons. I want President Obama to visit Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It would have a great meaning, even if he only comes without any words of apology.

Mr.Stewart said that America and Japan tried to communicate with each other so that they exchanged their own cultural dolls in the early 20th century. Americans sent a doll whose eyes were blue to Mie prefecture. I’m from Mie and it is in my elementary school, so that I have seen it once. When I saw it, I just thought of its American style. I didn’t know that America and Japan tried to get along with each other. I think we should keep such cultural exchanges.

I was surprised that there is an "American Center" in Nagoya. I thought that Nagoya is far from America, but we are connected. Japan and America had a war in the past, but I hope we can keep friendship in the years ahead.

[TITLE]Good tool for improving my English
In today's lecture, the speaker introduced a website www.whitehouse.gov. It shows U.S. policy, culture, economic issues, blog, photos, and videos. I think it seems to be a good tool for improving my English. This weekend, I will be able to access the Internet at home, so I’m going to access that website, at once.

Since today’s speaker was a native English speaker, it was harder than usual to understand some of the words and to keep up with the speed. The videoblog of whitehouse.gov was very interesting. I didn’t know that the U.S. government was using such kinds of media. I think it’s a wonderful way to show especially young people what the government is doing every day.

Today, I had a good time to know about the relationship between Japan and America. It's not easy for me to understand his speech, but it was interesting. It's not easy to solve the problem of American bases in Okinawa, but it’s a big problem, I think. So I want President Obama and Mr. Hatoyama to solve it carefully as soon as possible. I was surprised when I heard Chubu area is an important area for foreign countries' companies. I hope it will be more important for the world. And, I want to go to Nagoya American Center to take part in a lot of speeches and lectures. It will be one of the ways to improve my English skill and it will be fun for me, I think. I’m happy to have the book about Obama’s speech. Thank you.

It's my opinion that not only the USA, Japan, China and EU countries but also every country has a major role for world peace and to solve all problems (like environment, human rights, and so on). So I don’t like so much the thinking of G8, G7 or G2.

Recently I'm interested in politics especially the relationship between America and Japan. And today, thanks to the good presentation of Mr.Jonas, my interest about it became bigger. America and Japan have a deep connection and our relationship is absolutely important in the world. So I'm going to study about our problems or good things between America and Japan. Actually, I’m seriously thinking about my job and I want to work in other countries or at the embassy in Japan. That’s why today his speech impressed me very much. I want to join the Nagoya American Center.

I realized we just need a small but strong knot between America and Japan. I knew from his speech that ties were not only business and political but also cultural and casual things, like chocolates and dolls. I think the grass roots exchange is really important, so I would like to check the web pages he introduced to us first. Actually, I'm going to go to the gathering of international students in Nagoya American Center. I'm really looking forward to it.

It was really good to know the relationship between Japan (especially Nagoya) and the USA. Some of the information was new to me. So now I'd like to answer the question which Mr.Jonas Stewart asked. Actually, the situation for job seekers is terrible at the moment. Some people might say it's getting better, though I'd say it would take the next few years or more to be able to feel the recovery. A company which got 50 new employees in 2008 has decided that they will get none this year. Now what I am feeling is "I wish I could have gone job hunting one year earlier."
