I was impressed with Mr. Masuifs speech. For example, he said that "to respect somebody is really important." I think so too, and we can say the same thing in the case of talking with somebody in Japanese. And also, I learned that we should study not only how to speak and write in English, but also the backgrounds of many countries. He seems to have a lot of interests and knowledge about culture, hobbies and politics etc. I should have a wider field of vision than now. I want to have a lot of experiences in my life. Thank you.

Thank you for today's presentation. I was inspired by your opinion of "Learning Point."@ I think English is essential for our future, but we must also learn humanity and about Japan. I also experienced something like what you said. In Canada, I had many foreign friends, and they asked me about Japan. But I realized how little I don't know about Japan! And also, my major in university is French, so French is my third language. I felt strongly that to learn several languages is so important. I'm learning these languages and Ifm also studying the cultures. It's so important to communicate with many people who have different backgrounds. It's so interesting!!

[TITLE]English is not only a goal, it's a means
As I listened to Mr. Masui's speech, I realized English is really useful for business. And I was quite surprised how the company focuses on the English learning of employees. I'm keeping in my mind the words of Mr. Masui. He said "English is an important tool for communication, but not only this. We need to have good humanity." I really think so. I think being able to speak English is not the most important thing. I believe what I say by using English is the most important thing. Therefore I would like to have identity as a Japanese and would like to show respect when I communicate in English.

I was very impressed that American people are tolerant to Japanese or non-Americans. I have thought that Japanese who are poor at speaking English would be discriminated against. So this presentation eased my mind and I would like to go abroad more and more.

It was very interesting to know TMS's history and how people work there. Especially, the relationship between TMC and other countries is the most interesting thing. I didn't know that TMC had not exported their products to Korea until two years ago. That fact made me feel like knowing more about the history between Korea and Japan. I guess it would lead me to understand and respect Korea more. Then we would have a better future too. The important thing is to have respect to everyone whom you are with.

I was so impressed by the speech given by Mr. Masui, who is in the same generation as my parents. Not only his English but also his character gave me a lot of impression. He said that humanity was the most important thing to communicate with people from many countries in English, which I can't agree with more! I want to speak English like native speakers in the future, but it isnft enough as he said. Ifll try to be confident in myself through communication with many people from now. I also want to learn Spanish to communicate with my friends in Mexico!

Mr. Masui said, "It is also important to study the background of a language." I think it is a new point and true. If we donft know a specific culture and taboo, we may make people feel bad. Moreover, I think "respect" is also important. He said, "People can sense it easily when someone doesn't respect them." It causes a bad impression. Speaking skill is very important, but we have to study other skills, too.

I was really interested in Mr. Masui's speech. When I was at junior high school, my parents didn't allow me to go overseas. So, I wished my father had worked overseas. I envy Mr. Masuifs children even though they had a hard time to get used to the life in the US. Now I study two other languages besides English. Through his speech I was very motivated to study hard.

I felt Mr. Masui's humanity. He looks gentle, generous, and pleasant to listen to. And I was surprised that he and his daughters (and maybe his wife, too) were so active; they took on new challenges and turned them into confidence. He said that the importance of communication is respecting people and their background. Regardless of nationalities, for good relationships among people, we should make it a priority to respect people.

Mr. Masui had lived abroad for 10 years and his family had lived together. I think his daughters had much pain. But, as a result of their experience abroad, they can speak English very well and use it in their business. So I envy them!!! I should respect each person whom I talk to. I think itfs difficult, but itfs very important. If I do so, I can keep good relationships with everyone!

I learned that it's important for us to have confidence in ourselves and respect other people. When I have confidence in myself, all of the things I do are very good and fun. I think it's fantastic. To have confidence, I have to study, do, and know a lot of things. It's not easy but it will be great someday. So Ifll do my best. And I will keep interested in foreign languages like French. It will be a good way to have confidence in myself, I think.

Thank you for your story. As you said, nobody wanted to pick up the phone in your office at the beginning. I know the situation because it's more difficult to talk with people in English than to talk with people face to face. But I would like to be able to speak English to somebody who is not an native English speaker in my office in the future so that everybody could depend on me in the point of communication in English. And you also said that itfs good to learn some foreign languages. I totally agree with you. Because so many Japanese or non-native English speakers can speak English very well. So I've decided to learn Spanish by myself to have more confidence in myself.

I think, in the future, I want to take my children overseas. It is because, to acquire fluent English in Japan, it takes many efforts. But in foreign countries my children will acquire natural English easily. However, maybe this idea wonft come true. So I think I need to accept Japanese English. And, to acquire as natural English as possible, I need to have a goal about speaking English. Like Mr. Masui, I want to get a job that needs English. Or I want to enjoy travel only in English!

When I listened to his speech, I was reminded of my father. He has lived in many countries, such as Vietnam and Slovakia, for his business. At first, I suspected that he was moved to such developing countries only because Japan was in bad times. However, Mr. Masui said that many people living in a developing country don't have any car and Toyota want to satisfy regional requirements. So I noticed that my father does a very good job. I want to support him!

In communication with foreign people, he said respect was very important. Japanese respect Americans and British. However, they don't respect Chinese. When I listened to that, I thought it was right. In fact, I donft respect Chinese but without reason. But today I realized it was not good. When I don't care about people, they catch it easily. If I don't care about Chinese, they will catch it. At first, I thought speaking a lot was very important, but today I learned respect was also important.
