ドイツ 3年[TITLE]Today’s topic was a little bit difficult but very interesting. I assumed foreigners don’t have interest in Japanese architecture while Japanese really like American and European styles and try to imitate them these days. So, I assumed they don’t feel Japanese style is good or interesting. We have totally different culture, but it’s very good to know and understand each other.
フランス 4年[TITLE]Frank Lloyd WrightI didn’t know about Frank Lloyd Wright until today. But from today’s presentation, I understand that he loved Japan and took Japanese style in his architecture. I am just glad that he admired Japan and dispersed Japanese style more than 50 years ago. I like his unique creation inspired by Japan.
スペイン 4年[TITLE]About Today’s LectureThough in fact I hardly knew about Frank Lloyd Wright, I learned about his great work through today’s lecture. He integrated various kinds of cultures’ features and constructed a new design. It’s the point that is different from other architect. I think it great to accept any other culture and search for it. He actually visited Japan to learn about Japanese culture and made the most of it to design new architecture.
英文 2年[TITLE]Listening to today’s speech, I’m simply happy that there was already a foreigner who loved Japan before the war. The design of Japanese architecture is based on the idea that nature and humans should live together although the Western one is based on the idea that humans should prevail over nature. I think that was one of the fascinating things to Wright. Japanese could succeed in the reimport of culture through his work. I think such cultural exchanges will bring peace to the world.
英米 2年[TITLE]Today I saw many pictures in this presentation. I'm not familiar with buildings or architecture, but I understood easily. Some of the pictures were ukiyo-e drawn by Hiroshige Ando. I knew that many ukiyo-e flowed out of Japan at the beginning of the Meiji era. At that time, foreign people understood how good ukiyo-e pictures were more than Japanese. Therefore I want to take another look at Japanese art.
英米 4年[TITLE]I found Frank Lloyd Wright was influenced by many people, countries and cultures, especially Japan. I didn’t know some famous Japanese people such as Hiroshige influenced many famous overseas artists. I think they felt novelty or originality about Ukiyo-e. I thought the important thing in art is mixing a lot of cultures and ideas to make original works.
英米 1年[TITLE]I was surprised by the strength of the Imperial Hotel. I thought Frank Lloyd Wright was a great architect because he made architecture which could survive the Great Kanto Earthquake. Also I felt his great enthusiasm for Japanese architecture when I saw his Integration of Japanese Design, such as Sturges House. It is very similar to Kiyomizudera. I have been to the temple once, so I also want to go to the new structure.
英米 2年[TITLE]I did not know that a foreigner, Frank Lloyd Wright, played an active part in Japanese architecture. It is amazing. I do not know much about Japanese architecture, for example, temples in Kyoto. But I think that Japanese have to know more about them and be proud of them.
ドイツ 1年[TITLE]I think Japanese people watched Mr. Wright with great curiosity at a time when foreigners were rarely seen. It’s a hard thing to go to a country he didn’t know much about and where he couldn’t make himself understood, even though he had a strong ambition. He got so many new images from Japan and created many structures from his variety of images. I think we all have something to learn from his story and we should take some action toward what we are interested in.
国際 1年[TITLE]His presentation had so many pictures! So it was very interesting and very easy to understand. It was an amazing presentation. What I felt glad about as a Japanese is that people from other countries love Japanese culture and adopt it. I am a lucky person who can take pride in my country’s culture. The part about the Columbia Exposition was most interesting. I wondered what buildings there were in addition to the “Ho-o-den.” I’ll study about it!
英米 1年[TITLE]As I listened to his speech, there were many points which surprised me, I noticed that I didn't know about Japanese artitecture so much. Mr. Wright said that Japanese architecture has many attractions, such as simplity, shmpathy and so on. I didn't feel so much these things when I saw them. I think people who have another culture are likely to find good points of Japan. I think we can find our own culture by knowing other cultures. That means a culture owed to other cultures. I would like to know other cultures more and more.
英米 1年[TITLE]I was very hapy to be able to know that Wrigt loved Japan and was influenced by Japanese architecture. I thougt it was a shame for me and I have to study harder about Japan. The special guest was so cute!!
スペイン 4年[TITLE]This presentation was interesting for me. Lloyd is one person who was interested in Japan. Japan has lots of culture to be proud of like Ukiyoe, Sinto(神道）etc... But most Japanese ―including me― don't know the wonderful culture very much. What a strange thing.
フランス 2年[TITLE]Thank you for your interesting speech. It's difficult for me to understand, but there were a lot of photographs, so I can understand. I know that I'm Japanese, but there many things that I don't know about so much. So I will be interested in, go, see, touch a lot of things, Then it will change my perspective, I think. And I feel that I should like Japan more, and there are a lot of fantastic things in Japan around me. This is what I learned from today's speech.
フランス 3年[TITLE]Thank you very much for the presentation. I thougt that Mr. Wright is an amazing man because in the era when he lived, he did many new things! I love Claude Monet's pictures and I looked at many of his works in museums France, and then I knew that he was also influenced by Japonism. A long time ago, many artists were interested in Japan, I think it's so fabulous! I like foreign culutures, but also I realized Jpanese culture is wonderful.
