I thought John Lennon is loved by the people all over the world. In fact, I like him very much too. He told something that is very important to people. I am a musician, too. So I want to make a song like John Lennon, the song that could move people's mind.

It is very wonderful to go abroad and help people. I've never been to Africa, but someday, I would like to go there and do something that can help people there. I don't know what I can do for them, but while I'm in the University, I'd like to find the answers.

[TITLE] The Old Man in The World
After his lecture, I thought we have to think more about the global crisis, especially food crisis and health crisis of developing countries. And we should have a dream and endeavor to become what I want to be.

He gave me a lot that we should think about. I was very impressed with the topic of population. I thought how lucky and happy I was. I really thanked him for giving me such a feeling.

I've been to just two or three developing countries and saw many poverties but I didn't meet any bad people. People were always nice to me and they were very happy, even though those countries were abused by G8 countries... The world is unfair and people are foolish but one day I'm believing that everyone get together, help each other and live in the peaceful countries.

[TITLE] The Old Man in The World
Probably most of us know that many people in the world are suffering from poverty or starvation. However, we just ignore them and look for the "economic" development, because many people, including me, believe that "economic development" is the most valuable thing in the world while having the idea that we should change this situation.

I learned from this lecture that "Love" and "Peace" are the things that can change the world!

Today's lecture was very considerate, because I know that many people die through starvation and sickness, but the situation is far worse than I thought. We can eat food, drink clear water, and use the Internet, phone and more.... It is not surprising for me and other Japanese people, but over 85% of the people in the world can't live on because of starvation and war. This is a severe problem and people have to solve this problem quickly.

[TITLE] Imagine
"Man was born to serve other people." There words changed me somehow, I think. Nowadays, many people think only about themselves. Even in the train, people don't give a seat to other people who really need it. A kid kills his parent(s), friend(s), or partner(s). If we have feelings for other people, I mean -do something, care about other people. Peace will be everywhere. I want to say: "Man was born to sever other people" to my friends.

For the world peace.

Mr. Tomaita's speech was very meaningful to me. What he had gone through in his long life which is almost 4 times longer than mine, is very attractive. I am going to visit Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam this spring and my dream is to work as a member of UNHCR, so his speech, actually his life, is my future blueprint itself!!

I am so glad to meet him today. It was a big life event!

Because we were born and brought up in one of the wealthiest and safest countries, because we could have a very nice life, I think that we, Japanese are forgetting how lucky we are, how blessed we are, and how difficult it is to have that fortunate life. Mr. Tomita's lecture must make reminded us of that. At least, I did. I hope that everyone does not forget to thank the people around us.

Thank you Mr. Tomita for today's great lecture!!

[TITLE] The Old Man in The World
Today's lecture was very important for me. I have always wanted to work for one of the organizations in the UN or for a non-governmental organization and help many people in the world. "A world in which everyone can always smile and dream" that is my dream. But I worried about one thing. That is, the world population is now becoming larger and larger. And if we save many people's lives, the population might become too large and the people who can't have access to water or food might increase. What is worse, wars might happen all over the world. So I couldn't believe completely that to help people is a good thing. But today, to hear his words that "Man was born to work for other people. If all people in the world do this, that is peace", I felt I was pushed in my back.

Today's speaker spoke very slowly, so it was easy to listen to. But the import of the statement was difficult, so I could only understand a little.

I also think I want to do something to help the people of the world like Mr. Tomita. I'm really interested in volunteer work and some activities of NGOs. So someday I want to take action for people who live in hard conditions.

I think the lives of Japanese people are blessed. It isn't a matter of course for people all over the world to be able to eat enough, use computers and so on. I realized that people were born to work for others. And I know that we should be honest.

[TITLE] My Opinion for Today’s Lecture
When I looked at the picture of Zambia, I found that the faces of the boys and girls were filled with smile and happiness. Needless to say, the conditions of their economy and food supply were really bad. But, through their faces, we can understand that their attitudes toward life were very hopeful and positive. We can say that these attitudes come from humanity and we are unable to measure people's lives by their wealth.

I thank Mr. Tomita for his interesting lecture! I was deeply touched by his talk and activities that he had done. I think I want to do something beneficial for both society and individuals, especially for poor people. I study Spanish because there are many poor people in South America. Someday, I want to do something like him.

Today's lecture was sometimes very abstract, but at the same time, very heart-warming. The words of the professor were so powerful. I thought it was because of his wisdom of age and experience. His speech was very large in scale and always full of interesting topics.

I remember the movie "The Inconvenient Truth." Today, human crisis is an important global issue. As he insisted, I thought we had to accept the fact of the global conditions. Also he said, "Please have a dream, and don't give up your important dream." It was encouraging to me! Like the way of his life, I want to dream any time and be thankful to people all over the world.

I agree with Mr. Tomita's idea that excessive materialism caused the present global financial crisis. It seems that people all over the world tend to think that making money is the fastest way to be happy. They seem to justify "the law of the jungle." I think that the global crisis gave us a good opportunity to think about how to share the world's wealth among us.
