感想

I had practiced Kendo until I was 16 years old. So I know that Kendo is very wonderful. But Kendo is not so popular as judo or karate in the world. I hope Kendo becomes more famous. I'm interested in 独行道. 独行道's proverbs are very cool.

I thought Mr. Lim was a very affectionate person. His lecture taught me his love for his family and Musashi Miyamoto, and his passion for Kendo.

I was surprised and impressed that he looks like Samurai. When I saw him, I didn't feel the difference of cultures. Thank you for his lecture.

[TITLE] Budo
I feel Budo is so deep. Budo's spirit has a relation to Kanji. I think Japanese Kanji's complicated structures, various meanings and ways to pronounce are just a hardship or troublesome things for Japanese and foreigners by now. But today I feel it is an attractive point too.

[TITLE] Why I Choose to Learn Kendo in Japan?
I had a good time listening to his lecture. A lot of foreigners are interested in Japanese culture and I'm really proud of that. I've never practiced Budo but I think Budo is connected to the mental and the body like Yoga in India. And it is also kind of spiritual things. I got more interested in it.

Thank you for reminding me of Japanese good culture.

Mr. Lim's speech gave me a fresh insight and taught me how to survive my stressful everyday life. The thing that I got most interested in is the second concept in Dokukodo: "Consider yourself lightly, and care more deeply for others." The concept will help to make better my relationships with people around me.

It was really interesting to hear about Dokukodo. I didn't know so much about it even though I'm Japanese. I think it's a shame not knowing about your own culture. It is difficult for me to practice Kendo because there's no Kendo club in my university. But if I have any opportunity, I'd love to do it.

After listening to Mr. Lim's lecture, I became ashamed because I didn't know well about Japanese history and culture, for example, the details of Musashi Miyamoto. I'm from Kyoto, but I don't know well about such things as temples. I felt I had to study Japanese culture. I hope Mr. Lim will spread Kendo and teach about Japanese culture to people in foreign countries more and more!

I was very impressed with one of the four excerpts from Dokukodo. That is,"Consider yourself lightly, and care more deeply for others." As I want to work in the UN or a nongovernmental organization and help many people in the world, this word is very important for me. I'm trying to observe this principle in my everyday life, but it is not so easy. But I want to advance to become a person who can always do so.

I'm very impressed with Mr. Lim's speech. I belong to the track and field club in this university. I'm a runner and love to run, but I didn't know why I kept on running. However, when Mr. Lim told us why he had continued to practice Kendo, I found the answer to my question: I run to overcome my weakness! I was very impressed! Also, it's great to see people from foreign countries being interested in Japanese culture. I wish that Japanese culture would be known more widely in future.

Thank you for your interesting lecture. I've never have practiced Kendo, so I just had an image of Kendo as a serious and boring sport. But 5 years ago, my cousin started practicing Kendo. I thought "why he started Kendo?" Today I can solve the mystery because of your lecture. And I began interested in Kendo and Musashi Miyamoto. If I get an opportunity to practice Kendo, I want to practice.

Thank you very much!

I've doubted for a long time why a foreigner chooses to learn Budo in Japan. So, I could enjoyed today's lecture very much. I think that foreigners have a deep and abundant knowledge of Japanese culture or history more than Japanese. History and spirits is growing.

He said "Continuous learning creates possibilities." I think so too. But practicing it is very difficult. I think he is great because he gains confidence. So I will try "Continuous Learning", even if it is a small thing.

Today, I had a pretty good time in this lecture. I've never played Budo. So my image about Budo was just pain or danger up to now. But today, I realized that Budo is safe. And by playing Budo is like fighting to know thyself.

I think it's necessary to understand myself first of all to get to know other people. Musashi Miyamoto's words are very instructive to me. I'll keep those words in my mind. And I've impressed by Mr. Lim's love for his family.

I always think that foreigners know about Japan better than Japanese. The way that a foreigner studies really impresses me. As Japanese, we have to study much about Japanese; history, society, culture and so on.

By the way, I practiced Kendo in my junior high school class. It was a very difficult sport. This is because we have to play through an agreement of spirit and body. Thank you for your class.

I didn't know about Miyamoto Musashi so much. Taking today's lecture, I think he left us some very interesting phrases. The phrase "Do not have a liking for delicious food" moved my mind. I know we eat not to fulfill our taste but to maintain well-being of health.

Second, I think many Japanese, including me, don't have enough interest our cultures such as Judo, Aikido and Karate. We should be interested in our wonderful cultures and have more confident in them!!
