Thank you for your presentation. I found that you had a really good time so far because you used “it’s fun” so many times. Actually, I have the same way of thinking as you do. We will get bored if we repeat the same routine every day. We need some stimulation. So, I got more interested in volunteer activities than before. I have two or three years left at university, so I must “make me different.” Lastly, I love “the Shawshank Redemption” too, so I’ll keep the phrase in my mind “get busy livin’, or get busy byin’.” Thanks again.

Thank you for your presentation. I’m in the same department in this Uni, so I feel close to you. You talked about this Uni, jobs and so on. Now, I’m a second year student, having a good time with my friends, and I have so many things to do, so I feel “how time flies!” However, I sometimes spend a time with the same routine, like you said. So, I’m looking for some new things. “Time is limited” is a natural phrase, but so important. It is the same meaning as “it’s now or ever”. I will do everything I want to do, and spend a great time! In addition, a few years later, I want to say, “My life is perfect!” with honor.

It was so fun to listen to your presentation! I could relate a lot to the question “Are you satisfied?” because I always feel that when I’m comfortable, I don’t experience new things. The university routine can be exhausting and monotonous, but when you said we have to think of what we can do right where we are at this moment, it made me realize that we can have fun very exciting lives right where we are. Thank you very much.

Most Japanese students lose their goal after enrolling in university. It is quite natural because being university students can be a goal for them, but wasting time is not good for them, so volunteering is a helpful choice to motivate them. Because they can get relationships, experience and values. Those things make the world bigger. People who have different backgrounds from you have different perspectives, knowledge and thought. Something “new” brings on another “new” things and the circle is really valuable for people. I think to choose volunteering is not always the best choice because people have suitable things, but it still worth it to try. So if it is possible, students had better to do it. I have some volunteer experience and those are heartful memories. I thought I should keep it now too, through Mr. Sakata’s presentation.

Volunteering can be quite life-changing. At a very young age, I had to go through chemotherapy. I was too young to understand why my hair kept falling out or why I had to stay in the hospital. I literally thought the hospital was going to be my new home. During the last phrase of my treatment, a group of people came to visit. I didn’t know at the time, but they were volunteers from the Make-a-Wish foundation. They granted me my wish to go to Disneyland, but it wasn’t necessarily the trip that made me happy; it was effort behind it. I kept asking my parents where they came from. I know now that every moment I spent was because of what they did for me, and to this day, I still think of them as a part of me,

It was a good opportunity for me to hear about how he spent his time in APU. As he mentioned I also spend my time in a routine life, go to work play with my friends. I feel jealous of him to have such a hobby (volunteer work) that he could enjoy and get into. I already have finished one and half years of my university. From today’s presentation I felt that I should find some kind of activity that changes my daily life. Now I have a big feeling that I should not finish my university life without doing some special activity.

My most important experience was a story in Australia. This experience changed my decision about which high school to go to and gave me a chance to study abroad. Moreover, I could meet the volunteer team that I’m joining now thorough it. I have kind of the same thoughts with you. The volunteer works make my university life more fun and meaningful. It gives me a lot of opportunities to grow up, take responsibilities. I’m a shy person but when it comes to volunteer work, I can do anything now. I really want to thank to my volunteer team, and I want to continue more and more in the future.

I thought that university expands our life view, but I could recognize even now it is a small world. I met various people after I entered this school, so I thought that. However, my idea changed. I have many things I want to do. You told me the importance of making a new world and my world. You said, “I like finding a difference.” And “I always thought what I can do here.” These words hit my heart. To start new things we need courage, but I can’t get anything until I step up. I’m still a 1st year student, I have many tasks to do but I gaze at my life-maybe I can make free time. If I can’t make free time, I have to try to manage my life and decide what are the priorities. I don’t want to regret not doing something I want to do. You said, “time is limited.” I knew that I can’t be conscious of it every day. I will hold the words in my heart deeply!

Today’s presentation was about getting the most of life at APU. I think his presentation is more focused on life in general, because the underlying message was about throwing away your fears and nervousness to try new things. By trying new things, you can find something that can motivate you and become your good or reason for studying and doing everything you do. There are opportunities in APU and as a student, we have more time to spare, so it is the ideal time to experience and find the things in life we enjoy, our specialty and cultures. This combined with the feeling of helping and making a difference, means volunteering is a perfect mix of both. I hope I can find a goal as simple and clear as his.

When I was in China 3 months ago, I usually took part in volunteering events. Such as going to care for the elderly and taking care of children. And I also was awarded as “the greatest volunteer of the year”. One day I saw a volunteer event on the website. That was an International event. So, I signed up for it. But when asking my parents, they refused me saying it’s too dangerous for a girl to go that far by herself. But I really wanted to go. However, at last I compromised. So, I admired you for being able to go abroad for volunteering. Do you think that a girl cannot go far as a volunteer by herself? What will you do if your own daughter asks you the same question? Will you let her do it or just refuse as my parents did?
