Thank you for your presentation. It included lots of examples that are easy to understand for me. I had used Uber many times when I went to the U.S. during my summer vacation and I thought I wanted Japan to try the system because it was cheap and convenient. However, while I was listening the presentation, I thought Uber or some gigs would become threatened because it takes original jobs, and we don’t know who has responsibility when troubles happen. And then I have a question to you: do you think gigs bring only good things? Before this class I thought about “dark tourism” to negative legacies. Is it possible VR devices could replace the experience in those places?

If you think about today’s world, it is full of digital functions. From today’s lecture, I realized that automation has many kinds and ways of affecting our world. For me, personally, I do like digital things but not all. For example, AR/VR is something not real. It is good in one way that people can experience some world which is totally different from what we have. But at the same time, I feel it is scary if people start to think the world of AR/VR is the truth.

Thank you very much for your presentation. For me personally I had more bad images about AI than good ones. It is because I thought that if AI could do daily tasks instead of humans, there would be few jobs for us and increase the number of people who lack knowledge for some tasks. Although, listening to your presentation I learned that it could also create jobs for humans and ease the burden on people. So that they (people) could do more technical things that would be difficulty for AI to handle. I’m glad I was able to listen to you, which changed my perspective about AI.

Thank you for your presentation, I’m very interested in this subject. Now, I have some questions. First, is there problem about augmentation towards workers and employees? Though the presentation, you mentioned that algorithms, robots and AI directly affect our employment and how they work, but you didn’t tell us what we should do with augmentation for working well. So, please tell us. Second, will AI do ‘Experience Economy’ in the future? Recently, in Japan, a novel written by AI passed the first phase of Akutagawa prize. So, I wonder about what things will we do in the future without ‘Experience Economy’. Lastly, this theme is very important for us to make our lives more affluent. So, I want to keep thinking of these technologies.

Today’s topic was very interesting to me (and probably for everyone else in class too) because it was about something very “modern,” something we all have to face in the near future. There is something I’ve been concerned about ever since smartphones became very normal in our lives: it is about privacy. Especially the function to be able to save every single information like photos, card-numbers, passwords and so on. Even though I use my smartphone and the functions everyday, I feel that I will not completely be able to trust them until I understand them completely. (Until then, I will keep my password in my own paper-based schedule book!)

First, I was surprised that 50.9% of Americans will be freelancing by 2027. I had known that there is heavy financial cost in America, but this was really shocking. Half of Americans won’t be able to get stable work in 2027. Second, during your talk, I noticed that you didn’t touch the negative effects on human bodies. That made me really worried, which was the reason for my question. But, I was glad to hear your obvious opinion that shows you are thinking about the impact for the people, especially young people, deeply.

It’s growing analytical thinking, innovation, active learning, creativity, complex problem-solving, emotional intelligence. However, it’s declining manual dexterity, memory and spatial abilities, active listening, safety awareness, time management and speech (visual, auditory) abilities according the information that Hawkinson presented. It’s important to think about both causes to prevent future problems. If the people can use the technology in good ways and they can control themselves, it’s okay. The technology is a great tool to learn, enjoy and improve the life of humans depending how they are using.

With the technology developing, AI is becoming more and more complicated and can do as many things as humans can. Sometimes they even do them better than us. I see some supermarkets with some automatic registers. In other words, the position of “registers” is already being taken place by robots. I want to be an interpreter in the future, but I heard of something about AI-interpreting and feel so upset. The technology is increasingly going forward and the things AI can do also become more and more. What if one day there’s no need for humans to do something?

AI research is really interesting, especially about acknowledging a new point of view. The thing I liked the most was the explanation of the “Mixed Reality,” and how it will change our habits in the next decades. Seeing that it won’t only modify the way of work, but also the way we spend our free-time (3D paint…) can help us to find new projects to work on and prepare ourselves for the future and new technologies. However, I disagree with the idea that writing skills will be less important. When we give a look at Deuantart or Pinterest, a lot of arts (notebooks…) are famous, and receive recognition for the hard work, and the time spent on writing. Thanks again for the presentation.

I thought today’s talk conveyed a very positive image of the future development, which is contrary to my own views. Some of my concerns where addressed in the Q&A, but thinking about Google, Amazon, Echo or China’s social points system, I think it is very important to raise awareness for these issues. I feel like most benefits of VR and Big Data for the individual will be in the entertainment and ease-of life sector, which is an easy gateway into the privacies of homes and computers. On the other hand, most dangers of those technologies are hidden and very hard to control. As capitalism works much faster and more flexible than politics and policies, I think awareness is very valuable. Thank you for the presentation.
