Our group was taking how people especially children start to learn about other cultures. Everyone expressed their opinion, and we realized "interest" is the key. In my friend's opinion, she was big fan of Disney Animations, and she wanted to go to all the Disney worlds around the world. Just an interest or adoration or liking that little thing become motivation to learn about culture. We all agreed that Japanese should have more opportunities to touch foreign culture. Tiny little things might be somebody's turning points.

Is it better to have a secure, well-paying job or to follow your dreams? Today, we discussed this topic. First, I'd like to share my opinion. I think a well-paying job is better because, to live, we need money, especially living with a family. So, I think I would choose the well-paying job even if I have another dream job. However, two group members chose the dream job. They think, satisfaction or an interesting life is more important. I agree with them, and I understand their opinion. So we concluded it's a personal choice. What I thought during the discussion: I used a lot of English and my friend also used her English a lot, I was so happy to use and listen to English. Thank you for giving us such a great time.

Today we share our ideas with my friends and another group. We chose "Cross-cultural Understanding and Human Communication" presented by Ms. Misu and question No.1. I think it's more important to get a job that makes me happy. There are three reasons to support this statement. First, working hours occupy most of my life, so if I can earn money a lot of money but can't have enough time, I can't do anything. Second, I think an unhappy job causes me stress and it'll make me feel bad and will make me ill. Third, I can't continue mu job if I don't like my job. If I can't have an enjoyable job, I may quit my job. We talked to International students and they asked a lot of questions, so I felt some differences in our cultures. For example I learned that in other countries, people find a job after graduating from school. I was really surprised.

We did a presentation about how children who live in Japan learn another culture. Our idea is to listen to another country's music or make traditional dishes, and so on. But when discussing with another group, they advised us that talking with foreign people is also a good way to learn another culture. Through this discussion, I learn two things. Firstly, there are many ideas. Because we are not from the same background, we have many kinds of ideas. It is a very important thing and we have to tolerate different ideas. Secondly, talking about ideas in front of people is very good. Because I can get confident in my ideas and I can think about them more deeply. Therefore, discussion with people who have another idea is a good way to learn something.

I discussed the pros and cons of multicultural society with my friends. Pros are that we get better understanding of other perspectives and cultures. Thus, we become more flexible in accepting differences. I think that it is very important because the situation decreases the incidence of discrimination. Cons are the language barrier and religion related problems. If people speak different languages, it's hard to communicate, and some people might feel it is a bit hard to communicate, and some people might feel it is a bit rough to live in a country like that. However, I believe it would be nice to live in a multicultural country such as Canada because I want to learn about other cultures and interact with new people.

We discussed cultural exchange. Our group discussed "What can parents do to help children learn other cultures?" and another group discussed "Robots vs. immigrants." Then, we focused on immigrants and talked about this because another group members are from Germany and France, and they asked us, "What do you think about Gaijins (foreigners, immigrants)?" We told them how we feel about foreigners, and we could know European's opinions. It was a fantastic class. Thank you.

Our group discussed "Is It hotter to have a secure, well-paying job or to follow your dram?" In our opinion a well-paying job is hotter because a well-paying job makes us happy, keeps our mind stable. You can do anything. It means enjoying life. Drams are just dreams, we will do our hobby as our dreams. Other group members said "Don't you want to achieve your dreams?" We said "Have imagine. One day if your father suddenly says to you "I want to be a musician. So, you cannot go to university. ""Are you OK?" So we suggested "well-paying job is important."

Schools should focus much more strongly on teaching about the past than on teaching about the present and the future. I disagree with this statement. The past is obviously important to know where we come from and how we became what we are now. But, I think that schools (since I'm form France I will talk about French schools) focus too much on the past, from elementary to high school we only learn about the past up until 30 years after WW2. With that way of teaching, kids can't take an interest in what is happening right now. It is harder to be conscious of our society. If we don't think and care about the present, we can't think about the future. So we are just stuck in the past.

Today's class was great. We were to choose some interesting topics and questions to discuss. In my group, we stopped our choice on the dream job topic. We discussed whether it's better to follow your dream or have a well-paid job. Our opinions were different and that made our discussion even more interesting. Doing your dream-job gives you satisfaction, you live every day of your life with interest and inspiration, while doing a well-paid but not desirable job good money and stability to your life, even though it can make you bored and unhappy. All in all, we came to the conclusion that each side has its pros and cons, so this choice is personal and there is no right answer.

We need to learn from our mistakes so we will respect them. But that doesn't mean we need to stick ourself in our past. We need to learn about our ancestors and their world to create based on that a new world by ourself, and for that we need to see our future and our present. We need to teach our kids to think by themselves, to teach them to worry not only about our mistakes, but also our correct ones, so we can fix it, then the future, and make our world better. We need to create a society that cares about his world, not only his past, who cares about their future and themselves.
