I really enjoyed listening to your presentation. Listening to your presentation, I thought the way you and Yo-Yo Ma think about the difference between cultures would be one of the best solutions for the worst incidents happening now. Nuclear weapons in North Korea, discriminatory laws in the United States, and so on. Although it is extremely hard to solve these problems in one go. Ma's phrase "Currency in culture is not money, but trust" can be a good clue to making a change. If we all learn this, most of the sad problems could be solved and we'll be able to see a brighter future.

I was really moved by Alun's presentation. I thought his courage when trying many kinds of thrilling activities is admirable. I am often afraid of failure. For example, when I have to give my opinions in my class. Probably I feel anxious and ashamed if I make a mistake in the class, so I never answer confidently. However, when I heard Alun's presentation, my previous thinking completely changed. He tries to surf many times even if he is in a dangerous environment. I don't want to forget his tough spirit.

I enjoyed both speaker's stories very much! First, about Andrea's story, I was surprised when I heard about her family because their nationalities are almost different, but they have wonderful relationships, so I think it's a great thing in this global era and I admire her. I want to have a big diverse family like hers in the future. Second, about Alun's story, it was fresh for me because I haven't been involved in surfing before, but interestingly I also experienced a similar incident in Okinawa's sea when I was swimming, so I agree with your lesson very much.

I was so impressed by the stories. Thank you for your stories. Especially regarding family diversity, I was so impressed. My boyfriend is not Japanese, he is Korean. I don't care about the differences in our cultures. But my family cares about the differences. And I think that they don't have a good image of Korea, so I'm sad. But, although I understand the sad history and political issues, I don't want my family to see my boyfriend in that way. I didn't know what I could do, but after listening to Andrea's story, I think I learned what I can do to solve this problem. Thank you very much.

Sometimes, I feel scared of making mistakes. So, I'm afraid to try new things. I often think about things too deeply, so I can't move quickly and try to do new things. However, thanks to Alun's presentation, my way of thinking changed. He said "Don't be scared to make mistakes. Learn from it." I was moved by the words. I could understand that when I make a mistake. I should not only feel negative, but also think how I can make use of this experience

I'm so glad to attend this class. Today, I was impressed with Andrea's talk, especially the phrase "Good things happen when you meet strangers." After I entered this university, I met a lot of kind people. I think that meeting strangers gives us a chance to a new idea and knowledge and the best thing is having a new friend and that makes my life more colorful and enjoyable. In addition, it is so important to meet a lot of people and hear many kinds of ideas in order to tolerance.

I have two things that I learned from your speeches. One is that it's important to trust someone and accept their differences, As Andrea said "trust is what makes culture work." I learned that when I stayed in Canada for a year to study English. Canada is a multicultural country and I needed to trust and try new things there. The other one is about failure. People tend not to try something because they are afraid of making mistakes, however, "sometimes, failure is important" as Alun said. I totally agree with his opinion. And I think it is also important to "try again" even through your fail.

Both speeches were very interesting. The first one about the importance of being open to different cultures, I'm very much in agreement with. The differences make people more tolerant to diversity, which helps them to live in harmony with others. The second speech was about learning from failure, which is very important, too. Many people are afraid to make mistakes because they feel silly, and some time ago I was included among those people. But now I think making mistakes is not a bad thing if the person is determined to overcome any mistake in any context.

"Teachers are not robots." That is the main point of this lesson. While Andrea entertained us with her story of her multicultural family, Alun enthralled us with one of his very dangerous near death experiences. It was fascinating to listen to both of them because each one tried to convey their own message in a particular way. Andrea's was that "not money but trust" is one of the most important things is the world. Alun, on the other hand, showed us that it is necessary to fail sometimes, if you want to succeed in life. All in all, I was quite surprised that a lesson can be this interesting, but I gladly listened to every minute

I love the stories from both of the speakers, both of them have something to learn from. Form Andrea, I can learn that you can live happily as a family although you're not biologically related. Also, you can live happily together although you have different races, cultures, etc. By the way, I would like to have a job like Andrea's husband who can travel many countries. It must be so fun. From Alun, I could learn not to be so scared and never give up trying what you like. You can learn from failures and improve yourself, and increase your knowledge to become a better person.
