I was lucky to be here in this class, today’s lecture was really enlightening. Actually I took one class which was related to the rights of LGBTQ people and I’ve learned about the variety of the sex, gender and to who, the person is attracted and since then I have been curious about the support and laws concerning the LGBT community. There are some countries that area very accepting about marriage between LGBTQ people. However, the Japanese marriage system still does not allow them to marry if they have the same biological sex. I think that marriage is one the forms to pursue their happiness and Japan should accept it legally soon.

Mrs. Sakashita’s presentation made a lot strong impact on me. The Japanese society is still not very open to the LGBTQ community, and this topic is sometimes avoided. However, listening to how a lot of people accepted her son showed that the society is changing little by little. It made me very happy to know that a lot of people even high school students are very accepting. I just hope that the lawmakers will pass a bill to accept same-sex marriage. I also hope that all the people in the LGBTQ community can live without fear and full of happiness and love because everybody is equal.

I found today’s talk really inspiring. It was about a mom’s love for her child, the courage to come out and be yourself to others, and how important it is to be supported and accepted by society. I felt glad for Richard that although he had a tough time for 19 years, he’s finally able to love the life he’s always wanted. I think his story touched our hearts and reminded us that no matter what someone’s gender is, he or she is still the same person that we know. I hope every parent is just as understanding and as supportive as the speaker, and I also wish that every citizen in the world welcomes the LGBTQ community so that no person will feel left out.

Thank you for your presentation. My former high school also allows girls to wear boy’s uniforms. When I was a freshman at high school, one of my female classmates wore the boy’s uniform and she was dating a girl who was also in my class. When she told me that they were dating, I wasn’t surprised because I’d seen gay, lesbian and transgender people on TV a lot. I think this is the reason why Japanese society is accepting of sexual minorities. However, the process of changing gender is still difficult, I think. I hope all other minorities can be accepted in the world.

It was such a wonderful presentation. I really enjoyed listening to it. LJBTQ is not common in Japan so maybe it is difficult for Japanese people to understand and accept it. However, people who are LJBTQ are having a hard time and we should accept them. When I lived in a foreign country, I had a friend who was Bi-sexual. So, I actually have an experience of listening to stories from that kind of person. They are not different from us. Letting them feel free is important and in order to do so, we have to understand their situation and accept it

Although today’s lesson was the last one, I felt the topic was the most interesting of all presentation. I searched about gender minority for another class. However, I noticed that I didn’t have enough information about it. It was the first time to learn about the real experience of a gender minority person directly, though there might be people who had some experience of being a gender minority around me. I was surprised when I learned about this topic. It was much more than I expected. Recently, the number of people who consider themselves as gender minority is increasing. Thus, I think we should learn more about it, and show them that we accept them

It was a wonderful presentation, and I was impressed by Mrs. and Mr. Sakashita’s understanding for Richard. I heard that some Japanese families can’t accept their son/daughter’s transition. I know it’s very difficult to accept, but I think for these children, understanding from their family is very important. By the way, I think it’s weird that in Japan, if a person wants to change their gender legally, they must have the Bottom surgery done. However, it’s not covered by insurance. If Gender Dysphoria is recognized as an illness, insurance should cover the cost of surgery.

Today’s LGTQ is common around the world, except for in Japan. I think many people in Japan don’t know about LGBTQ, so people who are LGBTQ can’t tell anybody about themselves. Because they are very afraid of feeling like “He/She is not common”. Our goal is equal with all people. I don’t think it is strange that there are people who are LGBTQ because there are various people of various color, sexes and religions around the world. We need to rethink about them, and we have to create the world in which people like them can live comfortably.

Thank you for your great presentation, I have written a report about a child of sexual minority parents for another class. There I learned how difficult it can be to live in Japan for people who are sexual minorities. Also I learned that many people who are sexual minorities all over the world receive discrimination. I thought about how discrimination can be made to and that it is necessary that people understand and accept them. In addition, it’s important that not only people but also society changes to fit them.

We should respect other people who are different from us. Respect their humanity. They are as complex and unique as anyone else, and they have dreams, goals, and passions that are much more central to their identities.
