I have got to say, today’s presentation was unexpectedly interesting and funny. I’ve never seen any“rakugo”recitals so it was an honor to watch one. I’d like to praise Mr. Kimochi for his talent and perseverance. I’m pretty sure that his story inspired a number of students in the class. I’m also amazed at how learning another language could change a person’s life. In my opinion, it gave us an indirect message that to speak one more language will give us a more exciting future. Lastly, I put my hands together for Mr. Kimochi’s passion for making people laugh. More than anything else, I believe that doing something for others will give you genuine happiness in life.

I was inspired after hearing Mr. Kimochi’s speech. I think it takes courage to start learning a new language again after a long time. He also mentioned that he participates in a Toast-masters club where the MCs and participants use English. He seemed to be very hardworking and dedicated to learning English. Hearing about his passion for learning motivates probably not only me, but other students as well to persevere in learning English. I also enjoyed his performance very much. It was great to have a good laugh after hearing his serious speech as well as after all the lesson, we had today so I’m very happy that I got the chance to hear his lecture.

I learned with laughter at his Rakugo for the first time during these lectures. His jokes were really interesting!! Two meanings of one word and misunderstandings make the comedy in Rakugo. For example, Mr. Kimochi explained the word “nail”, it means “thin hard layer covering the outer tip of the gingers” and also “to nail up a window.” He used the two meanings in a Rakugo about zombies. I think that Doing English Rakugo is difficult for Japanese, but he did it well. He is amazing! His Rakugos are the fruit of many years of efforts.

Although this is the first time to watch Rakugo, I really enjoyed stories. Actually, before this presentation, I had an image that Rakugo is for elderly people, I mean the jokes in Rakugo are not funny for the young. However, this image was wrong. His Rakugo made me and even foreigners laugh. I wondered why? I think that’s because he talked jokes common to the world and also, he is making a big effort to find them.

Thank you for your presentation. I enjoyed your RAKUGO very much. I was surprised that only two things become a lot of things. It was like magic. It seems so difficult for me to tell foreigners about aspects of Japanese unique culture, like Tonchi because there are many differences in culture between the Japanese and English languages. But, I thought connecting different cultures through laughter is much fun. I’m proud of this culture and want to study and learn Japanese traditional culture.

Thank you for your interesting talk. Since, I have watched Rakugo (in Japanese of course) and I liked it, I was looking forward to joining the lecture today. I agree with his phrase “Language is like water”, because water is everywhere and we can’t live without water, and language is the same. Language improves our lives and widens our world.I was surprised that Kimochi didn’t have any interest in Rakugo before he showed his Rakugo performance to his friends, and that he watched English Rakugo first before Rakugo in Japanese. It’s interesting. I learned that we don’t need to study abroad to learn English, and we can do whatever we want in Japan.

Today’s performances were really impressive because it was my first time to watch Rakugo in English. I had tried to watch Rakugo in Japanese, but I just could not catch the jokes. This opportunity has given me the chance to realize the charm of Rakugo, and I also learned that learning foreign languages can help us to promote our culture to the young generation and also to international audiences. Thank you for the great performances.

Today was the first time to hear Rakugo in English. He used just the “せんす” and ”手ぬぐい”, but in his performance, these two items just changed into many things like a test, a cell phone and a katan. It was just like magic! He told us he started Rakugo as an achievement to show and share with his English studying friends, and that made me think that studying alone would be good in terms of concentration, but also sharing your achievement is one good thing for your motivation and starting something new. Also, the story about the way Japanese laugh and people in other countries laugh are different was so interesting! Today’s performance made me want to learn English Rakugo!

Thanks to MR. KIMOTI for giving us such an interesting speech and a great. I have never seen English RAKUGO or Japanese RAKUGO. It’s so interesting and I love it. I think that Mr. KIMOTI is very brilliant so he can combine the funny points in both Japanese and English. And he makes a lot of funny tones and facial expressions. He also gave us a lot of good ways for learning English. Thanks a lot. He said “language is like water”, and this impressed me a lot. Yes, it’s true that if we treat language as a friend, then the process of learning language can be very funny.

The wonderful speech just makes me so happy like I’m watching TV! Thanks for the excellent performance, it was my first experience of the culture of rakugo. And it has really become funnier translated into English!I’m impressed with the speaker’s words: staying in Japan isn’t an excuse that you can’t be a good foreign language speaker. Actually, going abroad helps us learn a language faster and better, but that doesn’t mean we should give up studying when we are in our own country. Foreign language learning doesn’t only depend on the environment, but also our own effort. I really think it’s never too late to begin learning a language.
