I really enjoyed your great and enjoyable lecture today. Since I am a non-native speaker of English, I am always worried about my pronunciation and grammar. However, your talk taught me a lot. I found that I can't speak English or another language, until I become confident. How great it would be if I take great advantage of my mistakes. It doesn't matter how long I study English. The important thing is whether you study English every day, even for a little time. So I'll continue to watch TED talks. Also, I'll try to think in English as much as possible!

Through the lecture, I got an impression of Mr. Otchia as being hard-working, positive, and a person who enjoys challenges. I think that he himself is a very good example for us language learners as to how to enhance our language skills. What I noticed is that he frequently used the phrase, "It's possible." This phrase will give power to us to work on new things. It's possible for us to master the language!

I respect Mr. Otchia for his eagerness to study foreign languages. I learned from him that we can learn some foreign language if we have strong motivation. In his case, he wanted to become a basketball player, but for me, I don't have a reason like this. So, I thought I have to find something that encourages me to study English first. By hearing his speech, I thought I want to speak English more and that hesitating is needless for me. I decided to believe in my potential and to try to change my way of studying English, and to follow Mr. Otchia.

When I heard that Mr. Otchia could speak six different languages, I was very surprised. Now, I'm learning English and German, but I can't speak them well enough. I have many difficulties in speaking, reading and listening to them. I also think learning languages is very difficult. However, he said that every language is easy to learn if we follow some rules and try to do our best. I will try to remember what he said and I will try to continue to learn languages. I also tend to set up hard and strict rules when I start studying something. Thanks to today's lecture, I understood this was not good and that it was easy for me to give up, so I will try to set up simple rules which will make it easy to continue to study.

Thank you for your lecture today. Recently I’ve been wondering why I can’t speak English well in spite of learning English for a long time. I thought I wasn’t good at learning or speaking English. But Mr. Otchia said “Everyone can master English” in the lecture. I realized that I can make more effort to study English and that I have to continue to study every day to master it. I was really impressed by “Learning English is a sport.” I don’t like to just sit on the chair, but rather I like to exercise! So, I want to study English like I am playing volleyball!

Listening to the presentation, I thought that the tip for learning a language effectively is to enjoy the process of learning. When I study, I sit down at my desk, open my textbook and try to memorize the vocabulary and the grammar. Studying meant effort and hard work for me, so I often lost my motivation and gave up. Next time I study a language, I want to make sure that I don't make things too hard for myself and enjoy using apps and speaking out loud to myself, so that I can continue for a long time.

Today, I felt my lack of studying languages even though I'm in the school of Foreign languages studies. When I was in high school, I just did reading, reading and more reading for the entrance exam. However, now, I have many opportunities to speak to native speakers and I have much more free time than a few years ago. So, I must make optimal use of my environment. Mr. Otchia said, "Regular study is important, and whether you can master a language or not depends on you". Everything depends on me! I thought. I'll try not to waste my time.

I love using my smartphone, so I was encouraged so much because I was told it’s a good way to study English. I spend more than 4 hours on trains a day, so I think it’s an efficient way to study when I’m on trains. This year, I started to study Portuguese, and I want to improve both my English and my Portuguese. I will study them on trains by smartphone.

I agree with his idea for learning English. In my case, sometimes it's difficult for me to keep motivation to learn English. But by setting up a goal, I can continue learning. And in his speech, "Leaning English is like playing sport: 1. Practice: What you study everyday… 2. Match: English class, conversation with friends." That is a good use of English class time in University.

I have heard about how to master foreign languages effectively since I started studying English so long ago, but he is the most successful person who has a firm faith to keep learning and practices his own advice, I think. What I really felt from this lecture are two things: firstly, keeping motivation and secondly, thinking in the target language. I tend to use an English-Japanese dictionary because of the easiness of use. But if I need to level up my English skill, I have to use an English-English dictionary much more. It was a very exciting and motivating speech!
