Her art is fresh for me! The art works in which she uses telephone cables are amazing. When I see her work which is made with red and blue paper, I felt it was mysterious. I think, she doesn't use such special materials, but her work lets us feel the mystery. I was interested in the work which uses a little trick for our eyes. It was unlucky that we couldn't listen to Ms Terauchi's voice clearly. We wanted to listen to her speech the most!

[TITLE] Our Own Sense of Beauty
Ms.Terauchi showed us many pictures of her arts so I enjoyed her presentation very much. Today I noticed that we are like "the blind men" in front of art. We can feel and appreciate art freely and there is no only answer that is right about art. I would like to visit her exhibition someday! Now I think I can enjoy art much better than ever.

[TITLE] Yoko Terauchi (Artist Talk)
If we can part the world into the two things (for example, light and darkness, good and evil and right and wrong・・・ etc.), we can't understand the world. There are many things which nobody knows. So we can enjoy our life. When we see the arts, we can imagine. From one thing we can get many things(feelings). The arts are filled with possibility. I think living is creating. And I think the most beautiful art is in Nature. For example, plants, sky, the ocean and the ground. We are surrounded by the arts.

[TITLE] Air Castle
It was fun to see a lot of interesting works of hers. My favorite one was "Air Castle," which has big circles on walls and ceilings of a gallery. At first, I felt that the dark circles are connecting to the cosmos. And after she showed us the idea of the work, I found that she is putting a lot of spheres together with the gallery as well, and the circles on walls and ceilings are one part of the spheres. The concept of the work is very interesting and I really like "Air Castle." I would like to visit the galleries and see the real works of hers.

I enjoyed listening to her speech. Everyone has nice talents. And she always tries to make things which are different from others. To make things looks easy. But in truth, it's very difficult. We need much knowledge, technique, and so on. The more we fail, the more we can get and learn lots of things. That can be said not only with making things but also with other activities. However, we don't have to have anxiety. I'd like to try everything which I'm interested in! Thanks for a nice speech.

I got interested in one of her phrases: "The longer I stay here, the clearer the difference becomes" because I thought people tend to integrate themselves into a new society or community as time goes by and we will forget and less feel the difference than at first. However, I felt that keeping our original way of thinking is very important and we don't have to be the same at all times. We should value our difference.

Through Ms.Terauchi's lecture, I realized that there are many things which have opposite sides around us. Things, clothes, words, even we humans ourselves have opposite sides. I'm also impressed with her work about the room which is white, but by blocking the light, turns into dark room. It was a very simple work, but it gives us many meanings.

Thank you for your great presentation! I think that art is original. "The source of the art is in the life of a people" is a nice concept. I was surprised at using cords to create works of art. Art has a certain intention. If I go to an art museum, I want to imagine about these arts. I can enjoy arts.

We watched a lot of Ms. Terauchi's artistic works. It was like a digital museum. The art I know is drawings on paper or carving. But Ms.Terauchi's arts are different from what I expected. The cable arts are amazing. I've never thought a cable is art. It's very beautiful and it shows wonderful skill. The art is not only about painting; everything has possibilities to become arts. I thought that changing our view is important to make a new idea.

Her words made me think about many things. When I heard that you should not be afraid of believing in what you think is beautiful and having your own sense of beauty, I recognized that I had been too nervous about how other people would think. I was also interested in the story about whether inside and outside are really entirely opposite things. I thought that it is a very difficult question.

Thank you for your wonderful speech. I also like designing something, so your speech was a good advantage for me. Creating something is more difficult than I think. Your productions possess both design qualities and conveniences. There were a lot of difficult words, so I'll check them afterwards. Anyway, thank you for today and take care.

[TITLE] The Importance of Expressing Our Self-Creation
Ms.Terauchi didn't care about Western ways of arts. She established her ways of them. That's spectacular, I think. Nowadays, we are afraid of stating our opinions or thinking. Listening to her presentation, I thought it's important not to follow other people's opinion but to believe in my own belief.

Her works were very interesting. I'm not good at art, but I could enjoy her works and the process of them. The most interesting one was the paper in blue and red. We can see that in many ways. To imagine the other side which we usually don't see is very exciting. The ideas which Ms.Terauchi wants to express through her works are very diverse. If I have any chance to go to a museum, I'll try to see works in many ways.

I think today's speaker is really a good artist. I'm very pleased that I can hear her important view about her artist work today. Even though Im not very good at appreciating artists, I still agree with her. People always tend to see things and their opposite nature like 'right and wrong,' 'inside and outside' and 'more or less,' but sometimes we can't judge something in our normal thinking, especially the artist. It depends on who we are, where we're from and the information we have just like 'The Blind Men and the Elephant.' We should open our field of vision to think and see the artist's works and the world. Thank you so much!
