There were a lot of thing that I haven’t known.  Also, I couldn’t get enough points at the Fun Quiz.  I’m interested in International Marriage.  But I’m worried, because living with a person who has a different culture or religion from me can be difficult, I think.  However, understanding each other is one of the most important things to be a globalist.  I was surprised to hear that the best age to start two languages is 0.  Children who are 0 can’t understand two languages, I thought.  When I have a child, I want to speak to him or her before he or she is born.

Thank you for your lecture today.  I enjoyed answering your fun questions.  I’m interested in today’s topic, “International Marriage”.  I want to go abroad and work in a foreign country in future.  So, I might marry a foreigner.  That is why I’m glad to know many things about “International Marrige” or second language education.  If I had a child of mixed race, I let him or he learn the second language in his or her youths.

Thank you for today’s lecture.  I’m very interested in international marriage, but according to the lecture, there are few foreigners in Japan, so we have only few chances to get married with foreigners.  Although the rate of international marriage is increasing in Japan, I think the way to the globalization of Japan is still far.

I had a really great time in this class!!  I’m interested in International Marriage and want to do that in the future  My favorite model, Hasegawa Jun got married with a man whose mother or father is Chinese.  She got a baby recently.  She talks to her in Japanese.  Her husband talks to her in Chinese, and Jun and her husband speak in English.  So maybe their child would come to speak Japanese, English, and Chinese.  I learned a lot today!!  His presentation was really really interesting!!  Thank you for coming today 

Thank you so much for your interesting lecture today!  I am quite interested in bilingualism and would love my future children to be bilingual.  So I was wondering, if a Japanese married couple who are fluent in both English and Japanese and have their children “Bilingual Education” is it also the case of “Bilingual Education”?  From your lecture today, I’m guessing it is!  Thank you so much again, and take care a lot!

In Japan I hardly meet bilingual people, so I’m not familiar with bilingualism.  However I am interested, and would like to be bilingual because I study languages in this university.  I major in German and I love Germany, but I don’t know whether better or not if I use only Japanese and German, not English.  I want study in Germany and master German, but if I do so, maybe I won’t be able to speak good English by graduation.  This is my concern.  But today I listen to this lecture and I found bilingual and international Marriage interesting.  I will study German hard for the present.

For me, today’s lecture was difficult to think about.  That is because I could not say what is right.  In my opinion, I couldn’t say Bilingualism is good or bad, because both a normal person and bilingual, have different advantages.  Bilingual people can have fun in many cultures, but a person who is not bilingual feels that they are more close to a home culture.  So it was difficult to think.  I thought I should focuse more on personality.

I can learn a lot about Bilingualism.  I thought that the environment is very important to bilinguals.  I found that the more listening to two languages when you are young the more you can speak two languages.  And I was surprised that 0 year old is the best age to start two languages.  Because I have thought if children start to learn two languages so young, they will be mixed up with two languages and both languages become unfinished.

I think it is very difficult to get to be able to speak foreign languages in Japan, because around us are almost all Japanese who can only speak Japanese.  It was first to know that the best age to start two languages is 0 year old.  Some people said from 8 years old is the best.  I believed that, but after listening to today’s lecture I changed my mind.  If I have my child, I will start to make him/her listen to foreign languages before his/him birth.

His lecture, especially about “language shift” was very interesting.  “Language shift” means the transition of mother tongues according to generation change.  This topic reminded me of a girl whose mother is Chinese and father is Japanese.  She was 7 years old and able to speak only Japanese although her mother could only speak Chinese.  I had taken it as natural for kids to learn foreign languages sooner and better than adult learners, but I learned this phenomenon can be called “language shift” in other words.
