Thank you so much for the interesting presentation you gave to us today!  I did not know that 70% of Australian resources go to Asia, it was a surprising fact for me.  Also I was quite amazed that Australian have enough resources even exporting a quite a large amount to Asia.  I didn’t know that it was Australia starting the “Working Holiday” system first with Asia, and Japan.  Maybe one day in the future, many people all over the world think Australia is a part of Asia!

The distance between Australia and other countries such as Japan, China and America have changed.  Now, China is the most important country for Australia but Japan has also a good relationship with Australia.  Having strong relationship is important for Japan as a political partner and knowing culture is good for both.  I’m happy to hear that Japanese food is popular in Australia as healthy food and I would like to know more about Australian culture, food and great educational system.

I took your lesson and changed Australia’s images dramatically.  I am surprised at an increasing number of people who speaks Asian languages.  My image of Australia is not Asia but Europe.  Moreover I was glad it is deeply connected with Japan.  I was interested in Australia more and more.  For example, education of Australia.  There are 15% on the top 100 universities of the world.  I was thinking Japanese education is high level in the world, but Australia’s education exceeds Japan.  I want to take education at a university in Australia.  I’m glad to listen to your lecture.  Thank you very much.

I regarded Australia as a far-away land because I thought it is an English speaking country and has British cultural background.  But listening to the speech about the connection between Australia and Asia, I see Australia is a land near Japan.  So I think it is important to know Australian culture which mixed Western and Asia cultures.

What impressed me most about today’s lecture was that Australia is part of Asia.  I had thought Australia was not part of Asia but part of Oceania until I took today’s class.  George’s lecture gave me an opportunity to think about relationships between Australia and Japan.  I think Australia is a good partner for Japan, too.  I hope that both countries continue to get along very well forever!

Thank you for your lecture.  I learned about Australia.  I have never been to Australia.  But I was interested in Australian people.  Especially I was interested in World Happiness Report 2013.  Australia won first prize in the world.  Australia is blessed with nature and can lead a happy life.  I want to visit Australia.  I’m thinking of studying abroad while in college.  I want to broaden my horizons about Australia.

I think Australia is far from Japan and isn’t part of Asia.  But this opinion isn’t negative, but positive.  When we talk about Asia, Europe, or so on, many countries are lumped together and considered as almost the same countries.  But, Australia is considered as one country.  So, I think Australia should have connection with other areas as one country. I was surprised to hear that Australia has 15 Nobel Prize Winners and 15% of universities in Australia are included in the top 100 Universities of the world.  This is the result of policies of education and efforts as one country, I think.

I was surprised to hear that Australian economy is growing for 22 years, and a lot of Australians are satisfied with their living.  When I was small, an Australian teacher taught me English and Australian culture like Aborigine, animals and history.  Since then I have been interested in Aborigine.  I want to go to Australia someday.

I was surprised to hear that the distance between Australia and Japan is getting closer through economy, culture and education.  That is just because I didn’t know that Australia has high education, and is a very international country.  My image of Australia was beautiful nature, many kinds of animals living and white people.  But through today’s lecture I got more positive images of Australia, and I learned that Australian people are very international and kind!!

I had a good impression that Australia is livable and Australia has a lot of great nature before I take part in today’s lecture.  Why doesn’t Australia have arts and culture?  Many people live in Australia so I think Australia has mixed culture.  I want to learn people who have different cultures and different histories.  I think it is important to learn each other’s culture.

Thank you for coming and having presentation today.  The point that I was impressed with was that we have to study about each other to get along.  I want to be an interpreter-guide in future so I study English and think how to introduce Japan to foreign country in English.  However, I think I have to learn about foreign countries too, to introduce Japan, or even talk about something not special with foreign people.  Thank you.
