TITLE

I have an experience as a foreigner living in America, so I really understood how your sons felt, and also wondered if my mother felt the same way as you did. I could not get along with other students or get used to my school. I hated school so much that I even tried to run away on my own!! If I was in your son’s place and went to a Japanese school as an American child, I might have had the same experience. But since I went to an American school as a Japanese child, I was able to learn English smoothly and come to like school because everyone was friendly and open, just as you said!! I too feel that the personality and way of thinking is really really different between these countries, and that difference, is an important factor of these country’s cultures. Thank you so much for coming today! It reminded me of the days I spent overseas, and it made me want to go back and live there again.

I was impressed by the lecture. I like her spontaneous way and I think my life was also almost like that. People sometimes say that you should decide a goal and make plans to achieve it, but I think the way of life would be more flexible. I learned that the most important thing is not to fear and try what I have in my mind. There are many things different from what we think. I also want to be more open to opportunity.

Her talk is very interesting! I love her humanity. She showed many pictures on the screen, I’m so happy to see her and her children enjoying Japanese cultures. Her children are so cute! Her children were playing Shogi in her picture. Also, her son practices hiragana. And, she enjoyed making Soba and planting rice. Her children enjoyed Sports Day and school trips. Even I, Japanese, have never made Soba and done Rice planting! I learned many lessons as a student and mother who I may be in the future from her talk. The favorite lesson for me is “Don’t fear the fear.” Thank you.

I’m glad to hear that she came to like Japan. In Japan, she enjoy being exposed to a lot of Japanese cultures, but at the same time, she has had painful experiences about her son in his Japanese school, for example. But, I think it’s really wonderful that she learned the important lesson like “Trouble can make you stronger” and “Never give up!” Actually when I face a big trouble, I always get nervous and want to flee from that, but I can feel big accomplishement and happiness after I did it. So, I want to keep today’s lessons in my mind from now on, too. And, I’m so sensitive and easily get nervous to anything, so I can sympathize with her. I always long for open and optimistic mind like American people. I think to be modest is good, too, but I want to try not to be too serious about anything.

I really enjoyed her speech. I think she is very good for her children. She left chance for her children to experience both America and Japan. I’m Japanese and also Malaysian but I can only speak Japanese and I don’t know about Malaysia. I envy her son. I thought a lot about bullying, I think it’s negative side of equalitarianism. Enryo(Consideration for others) has a negative point. When we want to say in class then we can’t say that because we sometime feel constraint. But I like this kanji because it real mean is “foresight”

I’m very sad for listening to the lecturer’s son’s bullying story in Japanese school. I saw a bullying problem a TV, but I’m not interested in it that time. But this time listening to a real voice of a person related to the person who was bullied, I feel very sad and feel reality. In the lecture, some words became my favorite words. For example, “Once is not enough” and “Trouble can make you stronger” and so on. This lecture is very interesting for me. Thank you for a good speech.

When I go abroad, I will be seen as a Japanese and student by foreigners. I intend to go to Spain to study Spanish, so I will not only study Spanish hard, but also learn Japanese culture.

All things she told us inspired me. “Don’t give up” “Be open to opportunity” are heard anywhere. When I heard these words, I couldn’t feel the reality. But, today, she showed us her real experience and encourage us directly. This lesson was really really a good experience.

I was really shocked at the story of her older son, who was bullied by whole the class in the elementary school. The children sometimes do discrimination against the people who are appearently different from the others. This is one of the problems in Japan because we aren’t used to see foreigners and sometimes it makes them unhappy because of stranger views for Japanese. The idea that it’s rare to see foreigners is already too an old stereotype and I’d like to contribute to get it out! I want our country to be international to communicate with the world more easily.

“Don’t fear the fear” I was shocked by the words. That’s right. I fear the fear so I can’t step foot in many things. I can’t take an adventure. I’m afraid of making mistakes so I don’t raise my hand in this class even when I have a question. I know it’s not a good thing for me. I’d like to change my mind.

I was very inspired by the story of the Japanese school. Actually, I think the bullying problem in Japanese school a really serious problem for Japan. Many children, not only foreigners in Japan, have been bullied in their school life making them not want to go to school or even sometimes kill themselves. I wonder why the Ministry of Education knowing the truth doesn’t do anything for that. It made so many children suffering in their childhood.

Today’s lecture was very interesting. My major is China, foreign country, and our community is becoming more internationalized. So I think it is very important to understand how foreigners think about Japan and Japanese. Today’s lecture was an opportunity for that. And, I listened to today’s lecture, I thought that lessons which was introduced in the lecture were very helpful for me. When I go to a foreign country as may adventure, I want to remember these lessons!

I was moved by today’s speech. I’m very sensitive, too, so I fell empathy. I want to go abroad, but I worry about many things like public security, whether I can become acclimatized, and make friends. So I can’t decide to go abroad. I want to get courage, so I was encouraged by your lessons. Her sons are very cute! But, in a foreign country, he was bullyed, which was a very sad thing. If I were him, I would hate Japan, and I would never come to Japan. “Coach Carter” ’s words are also moving! Thank you for your lecture!

TITLE : Don’t Fear the Fear!

Today I learned an important lesson that I will try to do anything from her presentation. “Trouble can make you stronger” is also a good expression, I think. I’d like to be open to opportunity and try not to fear the fear. I was really shocked about her son’s having been bullied. We should understand each other. Her column sounds so interesting. I have a complex that I have bowlegs, so I want to need an article about bowlegs.

I was so impressed with her lecture. She has experienced many kinds of things. They all are very adventurous. I also have experienced many things so far, but people around me sometimes say that I’m odd and I sometimes think that I’m wrong. So she encourages me very much. I like her lessons “Be open to opportunity” and “Don’t fear the fear” I think I should believe myself. And I hope my experiences and activities help other people like her.
