Thank you for your interesting lecture. I could really enjoy it. Today I couldn’t ask you my question, so I’d like to write it here. Now I teach English to elementary school pupils and junior high school students at a cram school. I’ve taught them English for 3 months. But I have students who can’t remember even the alphabet. I’m always in trouble when I teach them English. So, what should I do? I want to know how to teach English. Recently I try to get them to pronounce English words and read sentences. Is it a good way of teaching? I’m happy if you give me this answer.

I was very surprised to watch the movie you showed. Students speak English fluently and your way to teach English is new and attractive for me. I didn’t learn how to communicate in English in junior high school and senior high school, so I can’t communicate well in CE class now. I understood we must study not only grammar, but also communication. I wish I’d had your class when I was a senior high school student! And your word “Only teachers haven’t changed.” Remains in my mind.

Today’s lecture was interesting. I don’t know that the course of study will change, so I was surprised. I don’t think high school teachers don’t have to conduct class by using English. For I think that students don’t understand the class, especially grammar. In grammar class, there are many special field words, and teachers will use Japanese finally. But I think that experience of using English is they can necessary for Japanese, because it is said that Japanese can’t speak English though read it. So we need some change, surely.

I have learned one important thing from today’s lecture. That is, what is the correct or helpful measure to teach students in English. In my view, I think it’s to increase the chance to speak English in class. However, actually, the answer is not so simple. Not only a speaking ability, but also writing ability to express oneself is important. In addition, that means that teachers should “change”. Of course I’m studying English now, so I’ll keep the new knowledge in mind. Thank you very much for today’s lecture.

TITLE
Today’s lecture was very impressing to me. I have heard on news that many English teachers were at a loss because of the new course of study. I think his lessons in a high school were very effective for students and enjoyable. Every student could practice pronunciations, speaking and listening with fun. When I was a high school student, the English classes were sometimes boring because I had to only listen to the teacher and practice grammar. I think grammar is important, but communication is more important to learn English and for the future.

TITLE : Effective teaching of English
I’ve never known that the course of English will be changed. I think that the new course is very difficult for many Japanese teachers to teach because they mainly have taught English grammar, but not speaking English. But if they can take a procedure like he does, English class may be easier to understand and more interesting. However, I still think that students need more time to learn speaking English in daily life.

Today’s lecture was very interesting. I thought Mr. Yamamoto was a great teacher. All his students seemed to enjoy studying English, and they tried to explain something in English. I’d like to take a job where I speak English in the future. If I become an English teacher, I want to teach students English like him. I want them to know that English is very interesting.

Today’s lecture was really interesting. I could understand what he said. I was impressed with the DVD of his class. All of the students listened to their teacher and classmates carefully and they seemed to enjoy the class very much. I was surprised because the content of the English class was totally different from the one in my high school. I wish I could have taken Mr. Yamamoto’s English in high school. I would be more interested in English.

It was an interesting lecture. I think the contents of the new course of study are very challenging, especially for the teachers. They need much higher skills. I think some of the students don’t like studying English if they can’t understand what the teacher says. I think conducting lessons just in English is a very effective and good idea, but it depends on the level of student’s English skill. I think it will be acceptable and safe to increase the ratio of using English gradually in the class. However, I agree with having students use English positively. We need to be able to communicate in English anyway.

Before this class, I didn’t know about the changing of the course of study, so I was very surprised! I thought it is very difficult to teach English with using English. It is very difficult for teachers, too, I thought. When I was a senior high school student, I was taught vocabulary, grammar etc… And I haven’t many chances to speak English. But I think his way of teaching English with using English is very good. If we are taught that way, we can improve our communication skills. Actually, the students in the video that we watched speak English more fluently than me…. So If new senior high school students study in the way like that, many students can speak English better.

I think the change of the course of study is crucial for Japanese English teacher, but I didn’t know about that, to be honest. I can’t imagine that teachers who gave us good care when I was in high school will teach English only in English, but if the system had been already conducted when I was a high school student, I could have enjoyed English classes of high school because I like English very much. But of course some students like English, the others don’t like English, so I wonder if the gap between the students who like English and the students who don’t like English will get bigger. But in the VTR he showed, the teacher conducted his class in English smoothly, and the students seemed to enjoy English and pronunciation.

Now in elementary school older students study English once a week but there is a problem as there are few teachers who have enough English teaching skills. What do you think about English education in elementary school or smaller children? What should students in Japan do during elementary school? Do you agree with studying English earlier? I think it is good to study English early if children learn enough Japanese. If children use English when they are little, they can study English efficiently and brush up more. What should we do to improve the English education system in Japan. Do teachers study English more from now?

TITLE
I remember my English classes in high school: all we do was read and translate. Read, translate, read, translate… I frankly thought it was really meaningless to do that, because you never “think” in English. All you do is look up the words you don’t know, and build it into a sentence so it makes sense, while thinking in Japanese, of course. I personally think that writing is the best way to improve or maintain your English skill. If you think about what words or phrases to write next, that will mean you are “thinking” in English. In addition, if you have it corrected by another person, you can confirm your mistakes by seeing it written on a piece of paper and understand your weak points. In the video, your class was full of laughter and smiles, and made me think that that was how all English classes should be like!! Thank you so much for coming today!!
