TITLE
I like music very much, so I was interested in today’s presentation. Among today’s songs, only one song I have heard (Swan Lake). I had never heard the story of Romeo and Juliet, but I was impressed by the Tchaikovsky’s song. His song has clear strength and different speeds. Sometimes I was surprised at the sounds of cymbals. However the sweet and gentle melody was very pretty. I respect Tchaikovsky.

TITLE
I’ve heard classical music since I was an child, so some music we listened to today sounded familiar to me. But I’ve not listened to the whole of Romeo and Juliet, so I’m glad to listen to it. Today’s lecture was really precious because I don’t have any chance to learn the music history. Especially, I was surprised to know the structure of a sonata form. I think it is complex but very interesting.

His lecture was very interesting for me. I have few opportunities to listen to western music in ordinary life. He had us listen to a lot of music. Some melodies made me relaxed. And, some music made me excited and a little scared. My favorite music which I listened to is “Swan Lake.” I think that it’s great to express stories by using music.

Before I listen to today’s lecture, I didn’t know what the Russian music is like, but after listening to some pieces of music made by Russian composers, I liked Russian Music. I felt it lovely, sad, magnificent but pleasant and graceful. Romeo and Juliet attracted me to its story. Even though I haven’t read or watched the original story, the music made me imagine each scene. Today’s lecture was also a good opportunity to learn many new words especially related to music, I want to know the backgrounds of the Russian music.

I had heard of the name “Tchaikovsky” before, but this was the first time I actually listened to his music. It was great fun to find out the titles and the composers of the music I’ve heard before. I take Russian classes in this school, so I felt lucky to know and find out new things about Russian culture. I didn’t know a Russian person composed Swan Lake!! I really liked all the changes in Romeo and Juliet, first you hear soft, sweet music, but all of the sudden, you hear powerful and rather violent music!! It was worth listening to! Thank you for sharing these beautiful music with us!!

TITLE
I came to know many composers I actually had thought to be from Europe came from Russia. It was surprising. Tchaikovsky, I love his music like the speaker does, because his music pieces especially opera musics are always well organized and those expressed exactly how the story is like. I think most of us used to learn these kinds of music－sonata form and program music in school but it was interesting to hear in English and I learn a lot of technical words of music in English. I’ve never heard the music composed by cui, so I would like to try sometime.

In this lecture, Mr. Yasuhara introduced “program music” to us. I’ve never heard that term so far. But now I know what it is. It’s very fantastic music like “Romeo and Juliet”. I think that the power of music is very amazing because it can express such detailed situations and feelings! I want to listen to this kind of music at a concert.

The story which was told in today’s lecture is almost a new theme. So it was interesting! Before today’s lecture, I had no idea about Russian music. But there’re some music that I have heard! And I have heard the name of Tchaikovsky. He’s very famous! After I listened to today’s lecture, I thought that making program music is very difficult, and understanding program music is also difficult. But I also thought program music which we can imagine the story without words is very interesting!

Everything that I learned today was new. I never listened to orchestra with thinking of the narrative though I like music and have some CDs of orchestra music. It’s the first time for me to enjoy music logically like an academic subject and I found out the enjoyable way to listening to music. Thank you very much!!

It was an interesting lecture because I had practiced classic ballet for ten years and I also like the music written by Tchaikovsky.(especially Nutcracker) Also, I just read the story of Romeo and Juliet in my English class. It was kind of easy for me to imagine the pictures of many different situations while I was listening to the music. It was beautiful. Thank you.

I’ve listened to some music pieces which Mr. Yasuhara introduced in the lecture today. I thought program music is really interesting because listeners can know or imagine a story or someone’s feeling without words by just listening to program music. Music explains a lot of things. Today’s most interesting point of music, I think.

I like music very much especially classical music because I have played the piano since I was little and belonged to the brass band club when I was a high school student. I don’t like Russian music very much but it is so beautiful in terms of the technique. It has many kinds of techniques of playing instruments and use them more effectively than any other countries’ music. I think it’s very delicate. So to play the Russian music is so difficult. But I want to play the Russian music once again. Thank you very much!!

I know little about music, especially Russian music. But I heard many times that there were a lot of music geniuses in Russia. Absolutely, we all know Tchaikovsky and his work, Swan Lake. And today, I heard the “Romeo and Juliet” by music, not opera, movie or book. It’s kinds of new experience. We all say that music is a way to describe feelings, I didn’t feel that way before. I learned about Russian music for the first time. Especially, about musical terms were interesting for me. I have listened to classical music ordinarily by now, but today, I listened to “Romeo and Juliet” with attention. It was so interesting to listen to music carefully.

I think today’s lecture was so valuable for me, because this is the first time to study about Russian music. Until today, I didn’t know some songs which I often hear in my usual life are Russian music. Especially, “pictures at an exhibition” is well-known to many people, I think. And its title is very interesting to me. It is nice!
