TITLE
I was sooo IMPRESSED with his talk. I just couldn’t believe how confident and motivated he is about speaking English. Even though we have been getting through in the situations of speaking English in the classes A LOT still when I talk in English my voice is usually … shaking and I’m not confident enough. I’m pretending to be confident, though. I’m now the most interested in one particular language, unfortunately not English, but maybe I can use this way of learning a language. I had sooo much fun and I want to thank him again for giving me a great impression of speaking out loud with no fear of making mistakes!!!!

TITLE
When I am in communication class, I’m always shy because I can’t speak fluently and I have no confidence. However, this lecture made me become motivated so much. I could learn about how I should study English specifically. I like English and I want to speak, listen, write good English. This feelings are genuine, so I’ll try to practice more!! What I have to do is having self-confidence.

I was motivated to study English harder. I often see the people who come from other countries on the train, in the street and so on, but I can’t talk to them. I just stare at them. I always hesitate to speak English. I study English harder not only to improve my English skill but also to have confidence! I’ll begin with memorizing five words a day from tonight.

TITLE
I had thought that in order to understand English we have to study for a long time in a day, but if we study only 20 minutes in a day, if that time is enough for us and if we do it every day, I learn it will become good English study. I sometimes think in Japanese when I study English, so I will think in English when I study English. And I always become anxious when I listen to English because I can’t understand everything. But after I listened to this lecture, I think I will practice listening little by little.

Today, I’m glad to hear your wonderful speech. It was interesting and I could understand what you told us. You taught us how to study English, so I want to try to study English as much as I can. Now, I major in Spanish at university and study hard. It is difficult for me to find time to study English. When I study English and Spanish, I get confused, because I couldn’t distinguish English from Spanish. So, how to study different languages? Bit, I’ll try to study more and I want to speak and understand two languages. You told us to how to use a dictionary, how to study English…so I want to do that and when I have trouble in studying it, I want to remember what you said. Thank you for a nice lecture! Thank you very much. I want to talk with you someday!

I want to study English more than before. There were many good suggestions to improve English skills. I was afraid of mistakes in English but now I want to speak English so much whether it is correct or not. I respect Mr. OTCHIA because he can speak a lot of languages. I want to be like him!! If I keep studying English every day, I think I will be able to do it!! I will keep having this motivation and study more than before.

Today’s speaker motivated me to study English again because I’ve been discouraged from improving my English. This was because it seemed to me that my English won’t be any better if I don’t change the way to study. In addition to this, I was disappointed that there are so many people who can use much better English than me. However, I realized that I don’t have to compare with others. It’s important to keep my motivation. Today’s guest speaker must have had enormous effort. However, he told his own experience very pleasantly, not painfully. I was really impressed by him.

I learned that the important thing to increase persuasive communication skills in English is practice, practice, practice…, and I don’t have to be afraid of making mistakes. The more mistakes I make, the better I speak English. I’d like to take a job in which I speak English, for example, a tour conductor, an English teacher, a person who works at an airport, and so on, so I will try to study English harder.

I enjoyed his presentation, because the contents of today’s presentation were very important for English learners, like us. I learned that mistakes are very important to study correct English. He said his “Ofukuro” mistake told him the correct Japanese. Mistakes like that is a good opportunity to improve our English skill, I think. And more important thing than making mistakes is to be careful not to make the same mistake again and again.

I need practice, practice and practice. Today’s lecture pushed my motivation to study English. Recently I’ve started to think that I want to speak English and express my feelings in English. But I don’t know what way I should try. Mr. Otchia said even if it is a short time, you continued study every day, that’s just an important thing. I try to continue to study from today!! Thank you.

Today’s lecture motivated me to learn English harder. I don’t think I have enough English skills, especially listening and speaking. Thank you for your talk. I like English so much and I want to speak and write it better. I often translated in my mind and understood English by using Japanese. But I learned from you that. We should understand English by English itself. I can brush up my English although it sounds difficult, I want to PRACTICE!!

TITLE : Brushing up my English in Japan
Up till two months ago, I had been in Canada and studied English there for one year. To tell the truth, I couldn’t have confidence about speaking English at all there because one year was too short to achieve my goal. These days I started listening to Radio in English and reading some articles in English 30~60 min. a day. I realized I can improve my English skill here in Japan a lot if I make and continue small efforts every day. Today’s talk encouraged me a lot and I found my way of studying English is right.
