演題 A Way to Improve Your Pronunciation of English

TITLE

I found it very interesting and helpful to learn how to pronounce with expert knowledge. I think we should have known these rules of pronunciation as well as spellings and the meanings when we learned new English words each time. I thought our “Japanese English” accent could not change because of the way we use our mouth to speak Japanese was different from the one to speak English, but in this lecture I realized that it can be completely wrong with some knowledge and a lot of efforts. I would like to practice my pronunciation, making the most of what I learned today.

Before today’s lecture, I hardly ever thought about stress, but I have wanted to make my English more fluent. However, these days, I think it is more important to speak clear English than fluent English because my goal is to use English as a means not as elegant or cool tools, but after this lecture I'll try again to speak English fluently and never give up improving my pronunciation skill.

I'm not confident of my pronunciation of English. My pronunciation of English are not clear at all and not English-like. Listening to this lecture I thought accent is important to learn to speak English-like. I should memorize the accent of each word. So I thought listening and dictation are very important. I learn French and confuse pronunciations of English and French, so I'm in trouble.

Today I really enjoyed listening to his lecture. It was a useful topic and a good chance to start a new way to improve my English. I hadn't cared about accent before so it was good for me or maybe almost for everyone to get the information. My dream is to speak English fluently, perfectly, and communicate with lots of native speakers in foreign countries. I would like to start studying with this method and have fun practicing. Thank you.

Today's lecture was very beneficial for me. As might be expected of teaching English pronunciation, Mr. Teshima's English was easy to hear, so I could catch the lecture very much, and enjoyed practicing pronunciation. His presentation was extremely valuable for me as an English lecture. I remember the English questions of the Center Test like “Which is the stress of the sentence?” I'll never forget what I learned today, especially “How to weaken” is important. Speaking English is like singing, so I want to sing fluently when I speak English.

The difference between the native speakers of English and us (I mean the people who are not native speakers of English) is the accent. If the people who don't have good pronunciation speak English with the correct accent, I think they'll sound like good English. Through this lecture, I felt the accent is one of the most important points when we speak English. I will pay attention to the accents when I speak English from now! When I entered the college, I had an exam called “Center Exam.” We also had accent questions. Today I realized the questions of accents were so useful! Thank you.

This presentation was not only interesting, but also helpful. I often have opportunities to speak English, but I cannot pronounce well and my English doesn't sound like English. I learned that we should pronounce function words weakly last year in university, but I didn't practice. So I could review and decided to try that when I have conversation in English next time.

One of foreign teachers teaches how to pronounce and emphasize the way to pronounce weak syllables, as Mr. Teshima said in today's speech. Therefore, I thought it is important to be careful about weak syllables. I also think the folk songs are useful to practice pronunciation. However, it is difficult for me to hear the difference of pronunciation by myself, so I worry that I can master the pronunciation of English.

For the first time I saw Mr. Teshima's name, I felt I had heard of him. I couldn't help googling his name during the lecture, and I found him to be a speaker of an NHK program years ago. Actually I used to listen to that program all through my junior high school days. That's why his name reminds me of something. I was really surprised and pleased to know that! I was deeply moved to have an opportunity to have his own lecture directly! And I have reserved the textbooks even now. Now I try to study English hard, and am interested in phonetics. I want to learn a lot from those grand teachers, by all means! Thanks a lot for today's lecture.
